Question and Bonus Cards are not used in this version, but can be added as the child progresses.

GAME SETUP:

1

Place the bell on the table next to the child so they can easily reach it.

2

Separate the Star Cards into three different piles according to the number of stars on them: 1, 2 or 3 stars.

3

Remove all Question Cards and Bonus Cards from the game. These will not be used in this version of the game.

NoteQuestion Cards can be used later, after a few rounds of play, depending on how the child is progressing in understanding the meaning of the words and how they are formed.

You can use the Question Cards to ask the child questions, helping them think and understand the correct answers, identify the Letter Cards, build words, and relate the answers to the images, making connections in their mind.

Good to knowChildren usually learn very fast, so be patient with your child, take small incremental steps and have fun.

4

You can choose words and Letter Card groups according to the child’s level and place them face down on the table in a grid of 2 columns and 4 rows, according to the image on the back. Identify Letter Cards belonging to the same group by their identical image on the back. These same-image cards will be used togetherto build a word during the game.

NoteWords come in 3 levels of difficulty. According to the number of letters and the complexity of the word building, words can have 1 star (easy), 2 stars (medium) or 3 stars (hard).

GAMEPLAY:

1

Launching the Challenge

The moderator will prompt the child to build a specific word from those available on the table. eg. ‘Build the word CAR.’

NoteIf the game is played by 2 or more children, the moderator will give each child a different challenge.

2

Identifying cards showing the correct image

The child will identify the cards they think have the correct picture on them and point them out.

3

Collecting Letter Cards & building the word

If the identification is correct, the child will collect the cards and attempt to build both the word and the picture using the letters and picture snippets on the cards, placing the Letter Cards in the correct order.

4

Tapping the bell after completion

After building the word, the child will tap the bell and then say aloud the word they have built.

NoteYou can also ask him to spell the word and point to each letter, depending on his progress.

5

Earning Stars

If the word was built correctly, the player will earn a Star Card containing the number of stars corresponding to the built word (1, 2 or 3 stars) and add it to their own star collection.

NoteA second chance can be offered for the child to rethink and rebuild the correct word. Identify the possible mistake, explain why it is incorrect, and provide hints such as describing the word (‘it’s red’) or mimicking sounds associated with it (‘vroom’, ‘honk’, or ‘beep’). It is important to encourage independent problem-solving.

6

End of Round & Start of a New One

A new group of Letter Cards will be added to complete the lineup in the vacant place in the 2×4 grid system. The moderator will then introduce a new challenge, starting a new round.

7

End of Game

The game concludes when the child collects 10 stars, or depending on the moderator’s decision or the child’s level of engagement.
