A
Answer Cards – There are cards with the 4 answer options A, B, C or D that each player will use to give the correct answer in the question rounds.
Answer Options / Variants – The 4 answer options in question round A, B, C or D.
B
Black Cards – They are cards with letters, questions and answers. They work like a standard Letter Card, except they have negative scores.
Building words – The way a player will use their own Letter Cards, Black Cards or Special Cards (like Wild Card or Mirror) to create new words.
C
Collect – The way the player will draw new cards from the box or from other players.
Conquering words – The way a player can take over a word created and owned by another player.
Consonant – A type of letter. Available in the game: B, C, D, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, Q, R, S, T, V, W, X, Y, Z.
Conquest – One of the Special Cards available in the game. Gives the player the opportunity to draw all unused cards from another player’s hand, of their choice.
D
Discharge / Discard – The way the player cedes cards from the hand into the trash pile.
Decolonization – The way a player dissolves a Supercolony of at least 10 words and gets bonus points by doubling the score of the first word.
Draw – Random way of getting new cards.
Dumpster Dive – One of the Special Cards available in the game. It allows the player to search for and select a card from the trash pile.
E
Epic Game – This is the type of game with the longest play time (90 minutes or more). Players must gather 100 points to win the game.
Exchange (Card) – One of the Special Cards available in the game. Gives the player the opportunity to swap cards in their hand for new ones from the box.
Expanding Words – Adding new letters to the sequence of letters that already form a word on the table, changing its meaning.
F
Finish / Finish line – The last position on the score board with the highest score of the chosen game type. Whoever reaches this point will be the winner of the game.
Fist Bump – One of the Special Cards available in the game. The player will be able to give 1 new card from the deck to another player of their choice. This will also reward them with 2 new cards from the deck.
G
Game Type – Refers to one of the three game options available. These differ according to score and game time: Quick Game (short), Master Game (medium) or Full Game (long).
General Knowledge – Knowledge of a broad range of facts about various subjects.
Go fish – One of the Special Cards available in the game. Gives the player the opportunity to exchange useless cards from the hand for new ones drawn from the box.
Guardian – One of the Special Cards available in the game. Gives the player the opportunity to defend their single words against possible threats from other players..
H
Horizontal / Horizontally – The opposite of vertical, parallel to the ground or running in the same direction as the horizon.
I
Immunity – One of the Special Cards available in the game. It offers the biggest advantage of the game. The player who owns it will have protection and benefits for the duration of the game.
L
Letter Cards (or Question Cards) – These are the standard cards of the game. Each card contains a letter, a score (1, 2 or 3 points) and a general knowledge question with 4 possible answers.
Lose 2 Cards – One of the Special Cards available in the game. Gives the player who owns such a card the opportunity to make all other players holding 7 or more cards to lose 2 cards.
Lose the Doubles – One of the Special Cards available in the game. Gives the player who owns such a card the opportunity to make all other players holding letters of the same kind to lose duplicates and keep only one of each.
Lose Half – One of the Special Cards available in the game. Gives the player who owns such a card the opportunity to make all other players holding 7 or more cards to lose half.
Lucky Draw – One of the Special Cards available in the game. Gives the player the opportunity to draw a number of new cards from the box..
M
Master Game – This is the type of game with a medium game length (between 60 minutes and 90 minutes). Players must gather 70 points to win the game.
Magic Word – One of the Special Cards available in the game. Gives the player the opportunity to create a fictional word from random letters and collect points.
Mirror – One of the Special Cards available in the game. The player can use this card freely to double any letter they may need, in any new word they want to build. Once used, it will be worth the same amount of points as doubled letter.
N
New Chance – One of the Special Cards available in the game. Gives the player the opportunity to correct the original wrong answer to any question.
New Hand – One of the Special Cards available in the game. Gives the player the opportunity to exchange all cards in their hand for new cards drawn from the box.
P
Pawns – Custom tokens with which players navigate the score board to count their score each round.
Perpendicular – Overlapping words forming a 90-degree angle between them.
Play Time – It refers to the duration of the game, from the moment the first round starts until one of the players wins the game.
Q
Quick Game – It is the type of game with the shortest game duration (between 30 minutes and 60 minutes). Players must gather 40 points to win the game. .
R
Russian Roulette – One of the Special Cards available in the game (expansions). Gives the player the opportunity to discard one of their cards from their hand and draw a new card randomly from the box.
Round / Turn – It is a complete phase in which a player goes through the cycle of: Reading a question -> Giving answers -> Collecting new cards -> Building words -> Earning points and moving the pawn on the score board according to the accumulated points..
S
Scoreboard – The game component that keeps track of the player’s score using pawns.
Scoring / Points – Notation in points of the results obtained in the game.
Single Word – An individual word that is not in a Colony. Always builted horizontally.
Special Cards – There are cards with special playing instructions. Each card has its own instructions for use and offers certain advantages (for the one who owns such a card) during the game.
Supercolony – It is a developed Word Colony of at least 5 overlapping words.
Swap a Card – One of the Special Cards available in the game. When such a card is drawn, all players who have cards in their hand will choose one card to swap.
T
Table / Game Table – Flat surface on which the game is played.
Total War – One of the Special Cards available in the game. Allows the player to draw half of the cards from all players’ hands at any time during their turn.
Turn / Round – It is a complete phase in which a player goes through the cycle of: Reading a question -> Giving answers -> Collecting new cards -> Building words -> Earning points and moving the pawn on the score board according to the accumulated points..
Trash Pile – These are cards already played/discarded in previous rounds placed in a separate pile of cards. These will not be used again in the game, only under special conditions, using the “Dumpster Dive” Special Card, or if there are no more cards available in the box.
V
Vertical / Vertically – The opposite of horizontal, aligned at right angles to a horizontal plane.
Vowel – A type of letter. Available in the game: A, E, I, O, U.
W
Wild Card – One of the Special Cards available in the game. Provides the ability to replace any letter in the game when creating words. Once used, it will be worth 5 points.
Word Colony® – Is the overall concept of the game. Two or more words overlapping perpendicularly. The new word must begin with the last letter of the previous word. Also, it is a registered trademark and the very name of our game.
